The morning after i arrived I went for a long walk in the woods and meadows near the lake. Almost the first animal I saw was a Red Squirrel. I think it’s the ear-tufts combined with a rather big nose which makes this animal adorable and one of my favorites.
The flowers are wonderful in Ireland in the springtime. In May and June the wild Yellow iris come out and ring the lake with a yellow collar. The brilliant Blue Speedwell is everywhere.
Another blue flower that I love is Bugle
Also the delicate Lady’s Smock or Cuckoo Flower
A small pond was full of Pond Skaters including these two
I found the birds very difficult to photograph. The dawn chorus in the beech woods was loud and rich and very beautiful. All the birds seemed to be hidden in the depth of foliage or in the very top of the trees. However this Great Tit came out for a moment.
What a lovely post! Ireland looks lovely and green. The little red squirrel is adorable! He looks like Squirrel Nutkin. 🙂
