Some of the most charming woodland and hedgerow birds in Europe are in the Tit family. At this time of year in Ireland Blue Tits are busy feeding their young in gardens and woods everywhere.
Great Tits are also busy defending their territories.
Irish Coal Tits also have nests and are often seen in the oak trees collecting insects for their young. It is very hard to get good photographs of these lovely little birds as they move so quickly! The Irish race of Coal Tits are slightly yellower than elsewhere and quite distinctive.
