Walk by the lake

I saw a very young Dabchick (small Grebe) hiding in the reeds – soon the parent surfaced and off they went out of sight.

Hairy Dragonflies hatch in May and were all over the place.

The Lake was stormy and beautiful.

Ribwort Plantain making striking patterns at the water’s edge.

Along with Mares tail (which is also a Plantain and not related to the Horsetails – as I used to think – ).

Snatches of song between gusts of wind. A Sedge Warbler singing its heart out.
